The Marshall City Council batted around multiple traffic ordinances during its meeting on Monday, December 21.
The first was the second reading of a proposed ordinance to prohibit parking on the east side of South Salt Pond Avenue from College to Arrow Streets.
Ward 2 Councilman Kirk Arends said he does not support the proposal.
Arends said it seems like the city is doing a bit of an overreach.
The ordinance did receive a motion and a second, so a roll-call vote was taken. However, it was defeated 5-3. A councilman who voted against it said he would possibly support a reworked ordinance that would be for a shorter stretch of South Salt Pond Avenue.
In other news, Ward 3 Councilman Dan Brandt reminded residents that since Christmas and New Year’s Day fall on Fridays, the trash pickup schedule for Municipal Services will be unaffected during those weeks.
