Cooper County Public Health Center Administrator Melanie Hutton says the number of folks being tested for COVID-19 has decreased in recent days.

Hutton says, “As we enter Christmas week, our testing numbers are down. We are averaging about 20 positive COVID cases per day. We suspect the virus is still moving rapidly throughout the community. Due to Christmas, we believe individuals are choosing not to get tested for fear of being on quarantine during Christmas.”

Hutton continues, “Our staff remain(s) committed to fighting the virus; supporting use of masks; distance; handwashing; and limiting social gatherings. We appreciate the many citizens who work hard to protect their family, neighbors and community by wearing masks while out in public.”

Hutton adds, “Cooper County has not received a delivery date for (the) COVID-19 vaccine as of this time. We will alert the community as (the) vaccine becomes available.”
