Anita Rose Copeland, 92, of Slater, died Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Big Bend Retreat in Slater.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall, with Rev. Paul List officiating.  Friends may call from 9 A.M. until 4 P.M. on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at Weiker Funeral Home in Slater.  Memorials are suggested to Big Bend Retreat.

Born March 26, 1928 south of Gilliam, she was the daughter of the late Cellie D. and Gertrude Johnson Howard.  On February 11, 1948 in Fayette, she married Francis E. Copeland, and he preceded her in death on August 19, 1991.

She is survived by a son, David E. Copeland and his wife Sandy of rural Miami; a daughter, Patricia Copeland Maher and her husband Bill of Liberty; five grandchildren, Aron C. Copeland of rural Miami, Adam C. Copeland of Marshall, Alex C. Copeland and his wife Tori of rural Miami, Jonathan M. Maher and his wife Kazuyo of Half Moon Bay, California, and Mark A. Maher and his wife Natalie of Portland, Oregon; and seven great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by two brothers, J.C. Howard and Ivan L. Howard.

Mrs. Copeland was a member of the First Baptist Church of Slater since 1992, moving her membership following the closing of Bethel Baptist Church in Sharon.  She assisted with funeral luncheons at the church.  She was a 1946 graduate of Gilliam High School, in a class of seven students.
