Bothwell Regional Health Center has announced its top baby names for 2020.

A news release says five girl and five boy names hold the title of most popular. The list was compiled from the most common names of the 395 babies born at Bothwell this year.

The most popular girl names were Ava, Scarlet, Amelia, Blaire and River. The most popular boy names for the year were Asher, Liam, Grayson, Benjamin and Jason. Ava was the only name to appear on both the 2019 and 2020 top-five lists. Although these names were the most popular, 14 babies born at Bothwell in 2020 had unique names that were not duplicated throughout the year.

The most popular names at Bothwell vary from the national trends with only one name on both lists. According to babynames.com, the top girl names in the U.S. include Amelia/Emelia, Charlotte, Aurora, Violet and Oliva; with the top boy names including Oliver, Liam, Theodore, Ethan and Aidan/Aiden.
