Due to ice accumulation or trees falling on power lines, power outages were reported in numerous towns and cities in the KMMO listening area on Friday, January 1.

According to the Evergy (formerly KCPL) outage map, outages began just after 8 a.m.

Some area towns affected include, Concordia, Alma, Emma, Sweet Springs, Blackburn, Arrow Rock, Gilliam and Salisbury, and residents south of Marshall and north of Marshall, and several other towns and communities.

Some customers in many of those towns and cities are still without power this morning.

Also, Central Missouri Electric Cooperative released information that its crews are continuing power restoration efforts in Saline, Pettis and Benton Counties, simultaneously. The company said it crossed the 900 sites restored threshold, with about 900 left to go at about 7 p.m. on Friday.

Employees of the company were scheduled to work through the night and scheduled to continue work today to complete recovery.
