covid-19-vaccine

The Saline County Health Department has been getting calls about the COVID-19 vaccine, and when shots can be administered to the general public.

Administrator Tara Brewer says, “We are not sure (if it will be) a week or a month it will be available. The state is supposed to be finalizing it now. (We’re) just hoping to know more by mid-week. As of today, we’re still waiting on the state to decide when and who will be in the next phase.”

Part of a statement from the state says, “As vaccine availability continues to increase, our plan ensures every Missourian who wants a vaccination, regardless of who they are or where they live, will be able to obtain one at no cost. Our plan builds on the existing network of providers across Missouri to ensure a safe and effective vaccine is distributed equitably and efficiently in Missouri.”

Another part of the statement says, “We will continue working to vaccinate Phase 1A priority groups throughout the coming weeks, and we are working closely and collaboratively with these groups to ensure a smooth process. Missouri recently received federal guidance regarding Phase 1B and beyond, and is working to finalize the state’s priority groups currently. When we get closer to vaccinating Phase 1B groups, we will be able to share more information as to how this process will work for them. We are also working to build out a dashboard to show vaccination progress in Missouri, and that will soon be available on our website at www.MOStopsCovid.com.”
