A 28-year-old Boonville man who is facing multiple felony charges for allegedly shooting at another vehicle on I-70 in Montgomery County in 2020 is due in court this week.

A probable-cause statement says, on April 7, Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers responded to the report of shots fired from inside a moving vehicle that struck and disabled a van, which had three persons inside. A truck driver also gave an eyewitness account of the incident.

The suspect vehicle was stopped in Boone County, and troopers located a rifle and a pistol with additional magazines and observed what appeared to be spent cartridge casings and other evidence indicating a weapon had been fired from inside the vehicle.

Chad Michael Kennedy is facing six counts of a Class B Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon; three counts of a Class B Felony for Assault or Attempt in the First Degree; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Kennedy is being held without bond.

A court proceeding in his case is scheduled to be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, January 6, at Montgomery County Circuit Court.
