A tabled ordinance to not allow parking on the west side of South Miami Avenue from West Vest to West Arrow Streets did not receive a motion during the meeting of the Marshall City Council on Monday, January 4.

So, the council considered another ordinance regarding parking on that portion of South Miami Avenue.

City Administrator David Haugland clarified the proposed ordinance.

After a bit of discussion, the council voted 5-2 to approve the first reading of the ordinance to not allow parking on either side of South Miami Avenue from West Vest to West Arrow Streets.

The second reading of the ordinance will need to be approved during a future meeting of the council before it takes effect.

The next meeting of the council will be at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, due to Monday, January 18, being the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.
