UPDATE: This project has been postponed to begin on Monday, January 18.

The deck of a bridge within the city limits of Marshall is scheduled to be replaced beginning next week.

MODOT Area Engineer for Johnson, Lafayette, Pettis and Saline Counties Rich Shipley explains the project is on the overpass above Commercial Avenue and the Kansas City Southern Railroad.

Shipley says there has been some confusion due to the highway and the road it crosses being known by different names.

Shipley explains this work is being completed by a contractor.

Shipley says the roadway will be closed, but the ramps may be open at times.

Shipley says the tentative starting date is Monday, January 11.
