Marshall firefighters were toned out to a structure fire on Thursday, January 7.

According to a fire department spokesperson, the alarm sounded at 3:45 p.m., and firemen were on the scene in the 300 block of South Benton Avenue two minutes later.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw the residents outside the structure and light smoke coming from the basement. Firefighters entered through the basement and extinguished the blaze.

The fire was under control at 4:13 p.m., and the last unit cleared the scene at 5:18 p.m.

Estimated damage was $5,000.

There were no injuries reported from the scene.
