
A 25-year-old Kansas City man has plead guilty to his role in the death of a UCM student more than a year ago.
UCM’s Department of Public Safety responded to a report of an accidental discharge of a firearm at an on-campus apartment on November 4, 2019. Authorities found Stephon Abron, a student from St. Charles dead from an apparent gunshot wound. The investigation led to the arrest of Jeremy Allen Manley, of Kansas City.
Manley was charged with a Class E Felony for Involuntary Man Slaughter in the Second Degree.
On Wednesday, January 13, 2021, Manley changed his plea of not guilty and pleaded guilty as charged. The court sentenced Manley to four (4) year in the Department of Corrections. The execution of his sentence has been suspended and Manley was placed on five (5) years supervised probation and ordered to serve 120 days shock incarceration in County Jail.
