
More COVID-19-related deaths were reported in two area counties on Thursday, January 14.
According to health-department officials in Cooper County, five deaths were added since the last update on January 7. The total number of positive COVID-19 cases increased by 97 to 1,811. With 1,556 recoveries and 21 deaths, there are 75 active cases, including seven positive patients hospitalized. The positive cases break down as 1,662 Cooper County residents and 149 corrections inmates. Ninety-two cases are/were from nursing and assisted-living homes.
In Lafayette County, one more death was reported since January 7, making its total 47. In addition, 297 more positive cases were added, upping its total to 2,006. Due to 1,662 recoveries and 47 deaths, 297 positive cases remain active.
Pettis County reported 41 new positive cases of the virus, increasing its total to 4,571. With 4,151 previously-positive patients deemed recovered and 68 deaths, there are 352 active cases in the county, including nine positive patients hospitalized.
In Saline County, 15 new positive cases were added, raising its total to 2,484. Due to 47 deaths and 2,282 previously-positive cases now deemed inactive, there are 155 active cases in the county.
Four new positive cases increased the total to 750 in Chariton County. With 673 recoveries and 16 deaths, there are 61 active cases in the county.
Updates were not available from Carroll and Howard Counties.
