A 28-year-old Knob Noster man charged with the murder of a teenager in 2020 is scheduled to be in court later this month.

According to court documents, Christian Harrison and 25-year-old Evan Lanigan, of Warrensburg, are charged with the murder of 18-year-old Maliyah Lakey, of Warrensburg, on August 1.

The Warrensburg Police Department says officers were called to a residence in the 400 block of Grover where they discovered three shooting victims, including Lakey, who was dead at the scene. A 20-year-old male and a 17-year-old female were transported to an area hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.

Harrison is charged with Murder in the Second Degree, three counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, two counts of Assault in the First Degree, two counts of Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (a convicted felon in possession of a firearm). Lanigan is charged with Murder in the Second Degree, three counts of Armed Criminal Action, two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Assault in the First Degree and Assault in the Second Degree. Each is being held without bond.

Harrison, who waived his preliminary hearign and his case was bound over to the circuit division on December 16, is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 25. Lanigan is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, at Johnson County Circuit Court.
