An area fire department was called out to douse a structure fire on Tuesday, January 19.

According to the Marceline Fire Department, firefighters were toned out at 10:37 p.m. to a possible structure fire in the 300 block of West Lake street.

The first-arriving officer reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the front A side of the structure, and fire had already spread to the D side of the structure, as well.

The occupants were not home at the time of the fire.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control after about two hours.

Investigation is still under way on the origin of the blaze.
