Formal felony charges have been filed against a 21-year-old Boonville man after an injury traffic crash in Cooper County on Wednesday, December 9.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred as 21-year-old Michael Flint overcorrected his eastbound Chevrolet Silverado, which had exited the right side of the roadway. The truck then exited the left side of the roadway and struck an embankment and several trees.

Flint, who was not wearing a seat belt, and a passenger- 21-year-old Dakota Bishop- were transported by Cooper County EMS; and another passenger- 25-year-old Dakota Wells, who was not wearing a seat belt- was flown by MU Air Ambulance to University Hospital in Columbia for treatment of moderate injuries.

The crash happened at 3:50 p.m. on Santa Fe Road, one-half mile east of Perry Road.

Court documents say Flint is facing a Class D Felony for DWI- Serious Physical Injury and a Class E Felony for DWI- Physical Injury; as well as a driving-related misdemeanor and infraction. Flin posted $50,000 surety bond on December 28, 2020.

Flint waived arraignment and entered a plea of not guilty on December 16. His next court appearance is set for 1 p.m. on Tuesday, January 26 at Cooper County Circuit Court.
