He was born Friday, October 12, 1979, in Sweet Springs, Missouri, and was the son of the late Roger McGinnis and Patty (Rehkop) McGinnis.

Justin attended St. Paul Lutheran Grade School where he was baptized and confirmed and attended Concordia High School.
Justin grew up on a 20 acre farm in Concordia and enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was always outside playing and fishing in the creeks and swimming in the pond with his friends and siblings. Justin had a knack for wanting to know how things worked. He was always taking things apart then putting them back together, just to understand how they worked. He had a gift for fixing things and was always tinkering with cars and trucks. His family enjoyed his expertise in auto mechanics and appreciated all the work he did on family vehicles. As an adult he enjoyed attending New Life Church with his family in Concordia. Justin worked in construction for most of his life but currently worked for Maxion Wheels in Sedalia, Missouri. He enjoyed working outdoors and was known to make quite the mess with his chainsaw. He truly cared for animals, and loved all his pets like family. Although his circle of friends was small, he cared deeply for those close friends. Justin cherished the time he spent with his family especially during the holidays. He could often be found cooking huge meals to share with them and sometimes to their frustration, making a bigger mess of dishes. Family was important to Justin, he loved his family very much. He leaves behind four children that he loved more than anything in the world. Justin had his own personal struggles and fought hard to overcome them. His close friends and family are so proud of him for finding his true self and fighting to overcome those struggles. He will be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle, father, and great friend.
