
Eunice Mae “Judy” “Granny” Wilkens, age 88, of Concordia, MO, died Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Western Missouri Medical Center in Warrensburg.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 30, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Concordia, with Pastor Michael Pottschmidt and Pastor Andrew Lehenbauer officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. There is no visitation. Masks are required and social distancing will be observed.

Born May 8, 1932 in Concordia, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Dierking and Clara Oetting Dierking. Eunice lived in the Concordia area her entire life and was a 1950 graduate of Concordia High School. On June 15, 1952 she married Hubert H. Wilkens at St. John’s Evangelical Church in Emma, and Hubie preceded her in death on December 2, 2015. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked at various jobs through the years as well as owning and operating Ye Old Lantern Motel in Concordia. Eunice was an active member of the community and served the Concordia Fire Protection District for 24 years, retiring in 1994, was a member of the Lafayette County Democrat Club, served as an election official for Lafayette County and was a member of V.F.W. Post 5649 Ladies Auxiliary. Eunice was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and volunteered as a braille worker for the church. She and Hubie enjoyed traveling and traveled to all 50 states, as well as many countries overseas.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Wilkens (Danny) of Lone Jack; two grandsons, Kyle Wilkens (Maggie) of Corder and Erik Wilkens (Brooke) of Concordia; five great-grandchildren: John, Maddie, Ike, Emily and Jacob; as well as nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Eunice was preceded in death by one son, Kurt Wilkens; one sister, Delores Jenkins; two brothers, Lester and Robert Dierking; a sister in infancy, Lynette Dierking; and a brother in infancy, Leon Dierking.
