Norbert Melies, 85, of Slater, MO, died Thursday, January 28, 2021, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, MO.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2021, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial with military rites will be in Sunset Gardens Cemetery in Marshall. Face masks are required at all services, and social distancing will be observed. Born June 29, 1935, in Shackelford, MO, he was the son of the late Alfred Melies and Delphine Schlueter Melies. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. On February 23, 1957, in Marshall, he married Mary Barton who survives of the home. He retired from Ford Motor Company in Claycomo, MO and lived in Slater the last five years moving from Liberty, MO. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church. He was also a member of United Automobile Workers and a  member of Slater American Legion Post 78 and Slater V.F.W. Post 4367.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; one sister, Catherine Ann Finley of Liberty; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Norbert was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill, Leroy and Steve Melies; and one sister, Bernice Cartee.
