A 38-year-old Sedalia man has been sentenced to jail time after pleading guilty to a felony charge for assaulting a woman on May 15.

In a police report, the woman claimed that Emmanuel A. Ward punched her in her face several times, choked her and pointed a gun at her.

Ward was originally charged with Class E Felonies for Domestic Assault in the Third Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon-Exhibiting.

Ward pleaded guilty to a Class E Felony for Domestic Assault in the Third Degree on January 27. The State dismissed the weapon charge and Ward was sentenced to four years in the Department of Corrections with the sentence to run concurrent with any other sentence Ward has been ordered to serve.
