A couple of area counties updated the number of COVID-19 cases in the last few days.

According to health-department officials, 12 new positive cases were added compared to 11 previously-positive cases released from public health isolation as recovered from Tuesday, January 26, through Friday, January 29, in Howard County. Its total positive case count is 1,020 since the beginning of the pandemic. With five COVID-19-related deaths and 996 total recoveries, there are 19 active cases in the county, including one positive patient hospitalized.

Two new positive cases and one recovery were added to Chariton County’s total on Friday, January 29. In all, there have been 787 positive cases. With 18 deaths and 736 recoveries, there are 33 active cases in the county.

Updates were not available from Saline, Carroll, Cooper, Lafayette and Pettis Counties.
