
A 26-year-old Sedalia woman is facing felony charges for allegedly assaulting a woman with a weapon last year.
According to a sheriff’s report on May 5, a woman entered a residence on State Route E with some friends and got into an altercation with another woman. Chelsie R. Comfort is alleged to have struck the woman in the head with a hammer. After the altercation, Comfort and her friends left the scene, and the victim wen to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.
Comfort is charged with a Class D Felony for Assault in the Second Degree and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. She posted $50,000 surety bond on July 28.
Comfort waived formal arraignment and pleaded not guilty on January 19. Her next court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday, February 1 at Pettis County Circuit Court.
