A trial date has been set in the case of a Brookfield man accused of leading authorities on a high-speed pursuit through multiple counties last year.

Matthew Guilford, of Brookfield, was on the run from authorities on February 11, 2020, after they attempted to pull him over near Laclede. The pursuit traveled through Livingston, Carroll and Lafayette Counties, before Guilford was stopped and taken into custody in Saline County.

Guilford was wanted for a felony warrant out of Linn County, as well as a Federal Parole Violation warrant.

Guilford is charged with a Class A Felony for Assault in the First Degree or Attempt; a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance; Class E Felonies for Resisting Arrest, Detention or Stop by Fleeing and Resisting Arrest for a Felony; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action.

Guilford’s case is set for trial to begin at 8:30 a.m. Friday, March 5 at Linn County Circuit Court.
