Faulty wiring appears to be the cause of a fire that damaged a home in Marshall Saturday night.
At approximately, 10:07 p.m. the Marshall Fire Department was toned out to a possible structure fire in the 1200 block of South Sharp, where flames were reportedly coming from the roof area. According to Battalion Chief Jesse Coslet, crews arrived on the scene at 10:09 p.m.
When crews arrived they noticed light smoke coming from the attic vents. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that wires had shorted out in the attic and had caught three of the ceiling joists on fire. Crews made access to the attic and extinguished the fire.
There were no injuries reported at the scene. Estimated value of the damage was $3,000.
Crews were on the scene for nearly an hour and a half and returned to the station at 11:31 p.m.
