The Preliminary Hearing for a 23-year-old Bates City man facing a felony for allegedly having non-consensual sex with a female subject on September 11.
According to a probable-cause statement, the female said she had consumed an excessive amount of alcohol, and Cameron Johns had secured a motel room in Odessa. She said she fell asleep and woke up to Johns on top of her having intercourse with her. The victim claims she had a sexual-assault kit collected at a hospital the following day.
Johns admitted, during his interview, to supplying the female with alcohol and having intercourse with her in the motel room. The report says Johns agreed with the law-enforcement officer that the female was too drunk to consent to having sex with him.
According to court documents, Johns is charged with an Unclassified Felony for Rape or Attempted Rape in the First Degree and a misdemeanor for supplying alcohol to a minor or intoxicated person. On November 18, the court amended the order for no bond and set Johns’ bond at $100,000.
Johns entered a not-guilty plea during his arraignment hearing on October 22. His next hearing is scheduled to be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
