The question has been asked at several recent meetings of the Saline County Commission as to when the forensic audit of the county will be finished.
Presiding Commissioner Kile Guthrey Jr. gave an update in an e-mail from BKD, the Springfield firm that is conducting the audit, during the commission meeting on Thursday, February 11.
Guthrey said the e-mail said she is booked up this week.
Guthrey said the commission will announce when that presentation will take place, and it will be open to the public.
In other news, in a followup phone call to Presiding Commissioner Kile Guthrey Jr. for clarification, he said the county is going to continue to pay Marshall-Saline Development Corporation $25,000 this year for economic development services. The county also has budgeted $5,000 per month for the next seven months to pay Flotron & McIntosh (FM). That money also is in the line item to MSDC- making it $60,000 total. If the county decides to extend the agreement with FM- which can be terminated at any time with a 30-day notice- the monthly payment will be taken from the county’s contingency fund in the budget.
