The mercury is predicted to stay in or around single digits with dangerously-cold wind chills for the next several days in the KMMO listening area.

With that, the National Weather Service reminds residents about some precautions they should take to keep themselves and their pets safe.

The weather service urges residents to limit time outdoors; wear mittens or gloves; wear a hat; dress in layers; and know the signs of illness.

Officials also urge residents to make sure their pets stay warm. They say to bring all outside pets inside, if that’s possible.

The high actual temperature in Marshall is predicted to be only seven degrees on Friday, February 12; three degrees on Saturday, February 13; zero on Sunday, February 14, and Monday, February 15; and 10 on Tuesday, February 16.

The high actual temperature is not predicted to be above freezing until Saturday, February 20.
