A 28-year-old Lexington man is facing a felony charge for allegedly resisting arrest after a traffic stop on Monday, February 22, in Lafayette County.
A probable-cause statement says a law-enforcement officer was attempting to deploy a K-9 drug-sniffing dog but was approached by the suspect, who defied the officer’s commands to stop and had to be pushed away. The suspect later was combative while officers attempted to get him in a patrol car and head-butted one of the officers when he tried to put a mandatory face covering on the suspect, who was transported to the county jail.
Court documents say Jeremy L. Dorsey is charged with a Class D Felony for Assault in the Third Degree and a resisting misdemeanor. Bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety.
Dorsey pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on Tuesday, February 23. His next hearing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
