The Slater City Council discussed some signage to commemorate the Great Flood of 1993 during its meeting on Tuesday, February 23.

City Administrator Gene Griffith explains about a year ago, the city was contacted about having a sign put up.

Griffith said the levee broke on July 14, 1993.

In other news, Griffith said the council discussed replacing a building at Slater City Cemetery that just doesn’t fit the needs of the city anymore.

Griffith said the building that is there now will be torn down to allow for space for the new structure to be erected.
