A 52-year-old, Fontana, California man was arrested late Saturday night following a traffic stop in Cooper County.

According to the Cooper County Sheriff’s Department, at approximately 10:29 p.m., on Saturday, a trooper with Missouri State Highway Patrol requested the Cooper County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit to respond to I-70 eastbound at the 98 Mile Marker for an exterior sniff of a vehicle during a traffic stop. Upon arrival, K9 Grimm was deployed and soon indicated a positive alert for narcotics.

Ramon Rodriguez was taken into custody just before 11 p.m., Saturday, after nearly 76-pounds of methamphetamine was located inside his vehicle. The value of methamphetamine seized is approximately 1 million dollars.

Authorities are seeking charges of Drug Trafficking in the Second Degree. Rodriguez is currently being held in the Cooper County Detention Center.
