Two Hughesville residents are facing felony charges for allegedly forcing their way into an apartment and one of them assaulting the apartment’s resident on August 6 in Sweet Springs.

According to a police report, the resident said she was woken from sleep to loud banging on her door. She said as soon as she attempted to open the door, it was forced open, knocking her backwards. The victim identified Jodie Cornine as the woman who ran through the door and began assaulting her. According to the victim, Michael Cornine, the father of Jodie Cornine, was blocking the doorway, sealing her only access to safety. Michael Cornine was also reportedly in possession of a large pistol.

Jodie and Michael Cornine have been charged with a Class B Felony for Burglary in the First Degree. Jodie Cornine is also facing a Class E Felony for Assault in the Third Degree. Each of the defendants in this case posted $15,000 cash bond on August 20.
