A Higginsville man is facing several charges including a couple of felonies following an incident on December 10.

Kevin Lewallen was arrested and charged following a domestic disturbance where the 29-year-old allegedly kicked in a door to the residence and attempted to forcefully remove his four month old child. Witnesses claim that Lewallen had a bottle of alcohol in his hand and appeared to be intoxicated.

While officers attempted to put handcuffs on Lewallen he began behaving in an aggressive manner and began to resist. Officers had to place him on the ground where he continued to resist and an officer had to use OC spray to get him to stop resisting.

Lewallen was arraigned and pleaded not guilty, on December 14 to a Class D Felony for Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest and misdemeanor charges for Domestic Assault in the Fourth Degree, Assault in the Fourth Degree and Property Damage in the Second Degree. Lewallen posted $100,ooo surety bond on January 4.

His next court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m. Wednesday, April 7 at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
