John E. Maples, age 65, of Marshall, MO, died Sunday, March 14, 2021, at his home.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 18, at First Baptist Church in Marshall, with Dr. Mike Parris officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, at the church. Burial will be at Ridge Park Cemetery in Marshall. Face masks are required at all services, and social distancing will be observed.

Memorials are suggested to Dialysis Center in Sedalia, First Baptist Church or Lupus Foundation, in care of Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home in Marshall. Friends may sign the online register book at www.campbell-lewis.com.

Born September 18, 1955, in Sedalia, he was the son of the late Roy E. Maples and Betty Gossett Maples. He was a 1973 graduate of LaMonte High School and attended Linn Technical School. On November 30, 1974, he married Mary Griffin who survives of the home. He lived in Marshall since 1987, moving from Sweet Springs, and retired in 2010 from Deems Farm Equipment. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and held various other positions within the church. He was an avid sports fan including Mizzou basketball and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; two daughters, Teresa Hoey (Jeff) and Missy Casillas (Roberto) of Marshall; three grandchildren, Jackson and Katey Hoey and Alexis Casillas; four siblings: Dorothy Allen (Larry) of Grandview, MO, Mary Clifford (Tim) of Kingsville, MO, Donald Maples (Kenda) of Sedalia and Janet Kindle of LaMonte; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents; John was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Leonard Kindle.
