The National Corn Yield contest recognizes farmers from across the country for their efforts and exceptional results.

A press release says two area farmers have earned recognition in the contest sponsored by the National Corn Growers Association.

Jonathan Borges, of Marshall, placed second in the nation in the D:No-Till Non-irrigated Class with a yield of 317.156 bushels per acre.

Also, Justin Borges, of Marshall, was second in the state in the D:No-Till Non-irrigated Class with a yield of 310.551 bushels per acre.

The 2020 contest participation included 7,844 entries from 48 states. Of the state winners and other award recipients, 27 growers- three from each of nine classes- were named national winners, representing 12 states.
