
Students at an area school were evacuated, Wednesday afternoon, after a possible electrical fire was detected in the kitchen area.
The Slater Fire Department was toned out, just before 1 p.m., to a possible structure fire at the Orearville school on Route P. Fire Chief Todd Jenkins said the assistance of the Marshall Fire Department was requested. As a precautionary measure, staff and students were evacuated.
According to Slater Fire Chief Todd Jenkins, after crews arrived they made entry into the kitchen area, and upon further investigation, there were no visible flames or smoke.
Jenkins said, after speaking to the reporting party, it was revealed that an exhaust fan in the bathroom in the kitchen had recently been acting up.
Jenkins said he is grateful for the help provided by the Marshall Fire Department.
There were no injuries reported and fire crews cleared the scene in about one hour.
