A 26-year-old Sedalia woman is facing felony charges for allegedly assaulting a woman with a weapon last year.

According to a sheriff’s report on May 5, Chelsie Renee Comfort allegedly entered a residence in rural Pettis County, got into an altercation with another woman and assaulted the woman in the head with a hammer. Comfort then left the residence and the victim went to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.

Comfort waived formal arraignment and pleaded not guilty, on January 19, to a Class D Felony for Assault in the Second Degree and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Bond is set at $100,000 cash or surety.

Here next court appearance is scheduled for 9 a.m., Monday, March 19, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
