The Higginsville board of aldermen approved several action items during its meeting on Monday, March 15.

The board gave its approval to a resolution authorizing the filing of an application with USDA Rural Development.

Aldermen also gave their approval to a bill for an ordinance to expend up to $7,000 of city revenues for fireworks. The agreement with the Higginsville Chamber of Commerce is for it to reimburse the city for the funds expended.

Aldermen also approved an agreement for a provision of services with the Lions Club of Higginsville for the fireworks display. This is for the Lions Club to design and conduct the display on Sunday, July 4.

A cemetery maintenance agreement for 2021 with Adam Dillon also was approved. Dillon’s bid was one of four received.

In addition, aldermen approved the mayor’s appointment of Arron Haynes to the Lafayette County University Extension Council. His term runs through February 28, 2023.
