An arrest was made after a traffic stop in Lafayette County on Thursday, March 17.

According to a press release, at approximately 8:42 p.m., a Lexington Patrol Officer conducted a traffic stop for a license violation.

Upon making contact with the female passenger and the male driver, the officer had reasons to conduct a narcotics investigation. Based on the officer’s training and narcotic recognition, the department’s K-9 was called to the scene. At that time, the male driver fled on foot in to a wooded area. Authorities say the male suspect has been identified, and the police department is seeking charges for his part in the investigation.

Officer K-9 Zero located approximately 9.23 grams of methamphetamine inside the vehicle, along with a weapon. Upon further investigation, another 12.19 grams of methamphetamine were found on the female. Christy Coker, of Poplar Bluff, was taken into custody.

Court documents say Coker is charged with a Class C Felony for Delivery of a Controlled Substance; and drug- and weapon-related misdemeanors. Bond is set at $15,000 cash or surety.

Coker’s initial hearing is pending at Lafayette County Circuit Court.

The male subject has not been formally identified nor charged at this time.
