Marshall firefighters were toned out to a blaze at a building that is being demolished on Monday, March 22.

According to a fire department spokesperson, on fire was of a pile of insulation and debris from the demolition of the Marshall Municipal Utilities’ power plant in the 700 block of West North Street.

The spokesperson said the call came in at about 8:47 a.m. Once on the scene a few minutes later, they were notified the pile that was about 20 feet-by-20 feet by 10 feet high had caught fire in the bottom southeast part of the building. They had the fire under control 9:04 a.m. and cleared the scene at about 9:40 a.m.

There were a total of 10 firefighters on the scene with three trucks. Saline County E.M.S. units were called to the scene in the event of a medical emergency; and Marshall Police officers provided traffic control.

No injuries were reported from the scene.
