The purchase of a building was considered during a special meeting of the Marshall School Board on Wednesday, March 17.

According to unofficial minutes from the meeting, the board unanimously approved the purchase of a commercial building and property owned by Fitzgibbon Hospital located at 2295 South Highway 65 in Marshall for $250,000. The district will be using funds from the Fund for the Improvement of Post-Secondary Education (FIPSE) to be used for the practical nursing program.

Board member Christy Varner made the point that this purchase is being funded from a grant written by Marshall High School Administrator Callie Dobbins.

In other news, the board approved the employment of Laura Jacobi as Director of Teaching and Learning; Christy Jones as Marshall High School Principal, contingent upon the negotiation of an agreement; and Gynnah Gaudreau as Benton Elementary School Principal.
