 UPDATED AT 9:30 A.M. MARCH 23

The list of road closures due to flooding has continued to decrease in the KMMO listening area. The closures have been reduced from six to five area counties.

According to a MODOT spokesperson, only one roadway remains closed in Saline County. He said Route UU, just east of U.S. Highway 65, is still closed. That means Highway 127, north of Sweet Springs at Salt Pond Creek; Old Highway 40, south of I-70 and just west of Sweet Springs; Route VV, north of I-70 near Emma; and Route DD, east of Nelson, have been reopened to traffic.

According to the MODOT Traveler Information Map, in Cooper County, Route V, south of I-70, is still closed. All of the other roadways that were closed- Route BB at Gabrial Creek; Route DD near Blackwater; Route HH between Rodeo Drive and Buffalo Prairie Drive; Route NN near Clear Creek; and Route Z at Heath’s Creek- are now open.

In Lafayette County, Routes D and FF remain closed at Sni-A-Bar Creek. Drivers still should expect delays on Highway 224 west of Lexington due to water on the roadway.

In Johnson County, Highway 23, between Concordia and Knob Noster; and Route E, near Valley City, remain closed at the Blackwater River.

In Pettis County, Route O at Muddy Creek north of Beaman continues to be closed. According to the Pettis County Sheriff’s Department, drivers should avoid the area of Westermier and Whitman Roads because water has washed out part of the bridge in the area.
