During the meeting of the Saline County Commission on Thursday, March 25, Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden said it is not known exactly how the county can distribute the funds from the American Rescue Plan (ARP), an economic stimulus package signed by President Joe Biden in late February.
Gooden said commissioners are not sure as to whether or not any of the money can be used to pay the bond back regarding the economic development project taking place at Marshall Junction.
Even if the county cannot use any of the ARP funds for the Marshall Junction project, Gooden said the county has another option. She said the county is going to try to get some help with funding through U.S. Congressman Emanuel Cleaver’s office, and this has nothing to do with the ARP.
In other news about the junction project, Presiding Commissioner Kile Guthrey Jr. said the water line that is being installed is about 70 percent complete.
