Earlier this month, Saline County learned that it will receive more than $4 million from the American Rescue Plan, an economic stimulus package signed by President Joe Biden in late February.

During the Saline County Commission meeting on Thursday, March 25, Northern District Commissioner Stephanie Gooden talked about receiving an update from U.S. Congressman Emanuel Cleaver II. The letter says the metro cities and metro county governments will receive their first transfers of money within 60 days of enactment, with funding provided directly from the treasury.

Gooden read another part of the letter giving some guidance on how the money can be used.

Gooden said all of the money distributed by the county will be recorded and tracked.

Auditor Karlin Breshears added that if you apply for and receive some funds from the rescue plan money, you more than likely will be getting a 1099 form to file with your taxes next year.
