Observation of Arbor Day will be held on Friday, April 2. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no formal activities or gatherings are planned in Sedalia. Instead the City of Sedalia is encouraging residents to get out and walk, hike, or take a bike ride to appreciate the beauty and benefits of trees in the community.
You may also want to consider observing Arbor Day by planting a tree on your property.
Sedalia is proud of its participation in the Tree City USA Program. This year marks the City’s twelfth year of designation as a Tree City USA. The four standards for accomplishing a Tree City USA recognition is for the community to have a Tree Board, adoption of a Tree Care Ordinance, a community forestry program of at least $2 per capita, and a proclamation and observation of Arbor Day.
Any questions about Arbor Day observations should be directed to the Public Works Department at (660) 827-3000, extension 1166.
