A warrant with no bond has been issued for a 32-year-old Marshall man who allegedly assaulted a woman and threatened to kill her with a firearm on Sunday, March 28.

According to a probable-cause statement, the woman alleges Justin Scharnhorst pushed her down, kicked her in her back and ribs and punched her in the head several times. She also alleges Scharnhorst placed a firearm against her temple and threatened to kill her. The officer noted the woman had suffered marks and bruising on her side, back, stomach and rib area and had a large red knot on top of her head and another toward the top back of her head.

Authorities contacted Scharnhorst, who had fled the scene prior to their arrival, via phone, but Scharnhorst refused to give his location, saying he had things to do before being arrested. Scharnhorst stated he would turn himself in later when he is ready.

Court documents say Scharnhorst is charged with a Class D Felony for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm and Class E Felonies for Domestic Assault in the Third Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon- Exhibiting.

Scharnhorst’s initial appearance is pending at Saline County Circuit Court.
