The court has ordered a mental evaluation for a 38-year-old Lexington woman who allegedly attempted to disarm a police officer last year.

Officers were called to a residence, multiple times, on the night of December 31 for a disturbance. When officers arrived Mindy Dawn Garrett, who was allegedly the cause of the disturbance appeared to be intoxicated. The officer urged Garrett to go to bed but, just a few hours later, officers were called out to the same residence for another disturbance.

When the officer informed Garrett she was under arrest, she attempted to assault the officer and gain control of his side arm, forcing the officer to use his Taser to gain control of her.

Garrett pleaded not guilty to a Class D Felony for Disarming a Peace Officer or Correctional Officer While Performing Official Duty and three misdemeanors, on January 5. Bond is set at $50,000 cash or surety.

During a court proceeding on February 17, the Court filed a Motion request that Garrett undergo a Mental Evaluation. Her next court appearance is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 19 at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
