The Missouri Recycling Association (MORA) has announced a virtual Earth Day Stewardship Showcase featuring projects from all across the state.

You are invited to travel with it to the greater Kansas City area, Rolla, Columbia, Ashland, DeSoto, Herculaneum and the greater St. Louis area as it showcases the remarkable achievements of volunteers, educators, organizations and businesses. There will be something for all ages and interests.

The showcase begins with an Earth Day tribute followed by segments on volunteer projects associated with the Missouri Prairie Foundation’s Grow Native! program. Other contributors include Missouri Green Schools and Green Quest projects, businesses making strides in closing the loop, innovations in recycling and achieving zero waste. The “Food Too Good to Waste” segment visits Missouri Organic Recycling, a Kansas City commercial composting facility, and a visit with the unique Brookside Farmers Market.

For those curious about how to minimize food waste at home, educator Stan Slaughter will present a how-to on vermicomposting. The showcase will conclude with a showing of a student art contest and suggested Earth Day action steps.

The Earth Day Stewardship Showcase will be held on April 22 and viewed at mora.org. This showcase is segmented to allow multiple entry points, making it easy to join any time between 9 to 11 a.m. or 1 to 3 p.m. The afternoon program is a repeat of the morning session to make it easy to fit into your day. Educators are encouraged to engage students in this showcase.
