Area authorities are warning residents about a rental scam.

According to the Warrensburg Police Department, there is a rental scam on Facebook Market Place that lists a property at 405 West Gay Street for rent for $600 a month.

This property was for sale by Key Realty, and the scammer pulled photos off of the online listing and used it in its ad.

Six individuals have been scammed or almost scammed by these people.

The scam has been reported to Facebook.

Police officials say “These scammers are probably in the Philippines (best we can tell), so we have no jurisdiction.”
