“The schools in Sedalia – and indeed the town as a whole – have a rich musical history,” Meigel said. “I am excited to hit the ground running with our bands and to continue to build on the tradition of excellence at Smith-Cotton.”

He started his music teaching career at Kingston School in Jasper, Ark., and has been the instrumental music instructor for the Cole Camp R-1 School District since 2016.

“My goals coming into this new position are to help students find joy in music and to build upon the instrumental music programs that have had such a strong history in Sedalia,” Fischer said. “I look forward to meeting and working with all of the current students, parents, and community members and to continuing the legacy of instrumental music at Sedalia 200.”
