A 20-year-old Brookfield resident is facing felony charges for allegedly attempting to hit a man with a broken glass bottle on Tuesday, April 20.

According to a Brookfield Police report, officers responded to a report of someone having a gun.

The alleged victim reported that Gabriel Michael Donovan might have a gun, and that Donovan had assaulted him. Viewing video of the incident, officers say they observed Donovan yell at and swing a broken bottle at the other man, urging the other man to fight with him. The officer observed Donovan swing the bottle several times attempting to strike the other man in the neck and chest areas.

According to court documents, Donovan is charged with a Class D Felony for Assault in the Second Degree and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Bond has not been set yet.

Donovan’s initial hearing is pending at Linn County Circuit Court.
