The Boonville Police Department, along with the Boonville Fire Department, will be taking back unwanted prescription drugs at an event this weekend.

According to the police department, the event will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, at the Boonville Fire Department at 500 Bingham Road.

This is the Drug Enforcement Administration’s 16th such event in nine years to aid residents and prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs.

However, the DEA cannot accept liquids, needles or sharps, only pills or patches. The service is free and anonymous. No questions will be asked.

If you cannot turn in your unwanted prescription drugs at this time, you can drop them off at the Boonville Police Department at 401 East Morgan Street any time before the event.
